Are you still looking to make some extra cash to get you through the upcoming holidays? Retailers and shipping companies are still looking to hire thousands of seasonal workers in metro Atlanta, around Georgia and across the country.
The good news is that despite signs of slower retail sales last month, the employers haven’t altered overall hiring plans for the remainder of the year, according to the outplacement consulting firm Challenger Gray & Christmas. The firm expects seasonal hiring to reach 695,970 this year, up 34 percent from 518,000 last year.
A lot of hiring will be related to online and fulfillment operations. Granted most of the jobs are temporary, but many can lead to permanent positions after January.
While the list includes major companies, don’t overlook other employers, both midsize and small, that expect a sharp increase in business around the holidays as shoppers take a break between stops. Restaurants and entertainment businesses are also looking to hire.
Additional hiring information, including pay and benefits, if any, generally is available on the companies’ websites.
