Metro Atlanta gas prices up average 13 cents in a week

Nearly a week ago we asked the question, “Have metro gas prices hit bottom?” The next day the average price for unleaded climbed a penny.

Prices are rising as refineries prepare to switch from winter to a more expensive summer gas blend that helps reduce fuel evaporation and air pollution during warmer months.

The average price is now up by about 13 cents a gallon from last week to $2.185 on Wednesday, according to GasBuddy.com’s latest survey of 2,134 metro stations.  AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report shows a similar jump in prices.

The price was still below the national average of $2.214 and it was still about $1 below the average metro Atlanta price for unleaded a year ago, $3.180.
