Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook has just wrapped up his update on the latest products from the company, including more details about the company’s new Apple Watch, and a new MacBook.
The Apple Watch will be wavailable for pre-order April 10, and it will ship April 24. Cook, however, didn’t talk about price, but reports say the watches will start at $349 and can run as high as $10,000 for an 18-karat version.
Here is a rundown of how the day unfolded in San Francisco, where Cook appeared.
The event begins with Cook making his way to the stage. Apple says it is expanding with a new flagship store in China. The company says there are now 453 Apple Retail Stores. In 16 countries. With over 120 million visitors in the last quarter.
HBO soon will be available on Apple TV without a cable or satellite subscription. It’s called HBO NOW and it will be available in April..$14.99 a month, and for a limited time, the first month is free.

Cook is touting the benefits of the iPhone in enhancing your ability to maintain wellness.He says more than 900 apps have been created with HealthKit to help people track and manage their health. He says the iPhone is “an extraordinary medical research tool.”
Cook introduces ResearchKit, a software framework designed to benefit medical research via the iPhone. Researchers have used it to build apps aimed at serious diseases.
The University of Rochester and Sage Bionetworks have created an app called mPower, which uses ResearchKit to conduct Parkinson’s disease research. Parkinson’s patients can record their systems with iPhone and that information is sent to researchers. Apps also target cardiovascular disease, asthma, and breast cancer. ResearchKit will be available next month, with five apps in Apple Stores.
Attention turns to the Mac. Notebook sales up 21 percent over the last year.
The new MacBook is gold. It’s 24 percent thinner than the 11-inch MacBook Air, and it’s the lightest ever at 2 pounds. It has a re-engineered keyboard Keys have 17 percent more surface area.

Cook starts out talking about the many faces that will be available for the Apple Watch, For example, the faces can feature weather or your next calendar event. Swiping the watch face can call up more information you refer to regularly. You can control your music from the face.
More on the Apple Watch: Notifications you receive on your iPhone can automatically appear on your watch. Siri is available to receive voice commands on the Apple Watch.
With Apple Watch, you can see who’s calling you without pulling out your iPhone. “Digital Touch” allows you to send a sketch or your heartbeat to other people wearing the watch.
Apple calls the watch a comprehensive health and fitness companion. The Workout app provides detailed measurement during specific activities. A three-ring graphic provides a snapshot of your all-day activity.

Apple, however, is really pushing the device’s fitness-related benefits. When Cook introduced the watch in September, the device was billed as “a comprehensive health and fitness companion.”
When you press two fingers on the screen, the built-in heart rate sensor records and sends your heartbeat. A workout app shows real-time stats such as calories, time, distance, and pace for your workouts.
