The owner of Phipps Plaza in Buckhead released new details Wednesday and a rendering showing the new look of its exterior overhaul.

The Peachtree Road entrance will feature a new façade displaying some of the mall’s top brands, including Versace, Tiffany & Co., Giorgio Armani and Botttega Veneta, according to a news release from owner Simon, which also owns nearby Lenox Square.

The new façade work is scheduled to be finished by the end of the year.

“Recognized as one of the country’s premier centers for luxury shopping, Phipps Plaza is always seeking ways to not only enhance the shopper experience, but also the overall aesthetic of the center,” Michelle Smart, head of leasing for Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, said in a news release. “The new façade of storefronts welcoming shoppers to the center offers a dynamic atmosphere for our guests and a prominent, visual opportunity for our best-in-class brands to highlight their stores.”

The mall has undergone a sizable facelift, with new lighting, lounge areas, restaurants and a concierge center, according to a news release. A 319-unit luxury apartment development – known as Domain at Phipps Plaza – is under development and will open in phases starting in June. An AC Hotels by Marriott is also expected to open in the spring.

Those plans just look god-awful! I remember the last time they renovated the place back in the early 90s and they did a really good job. Now, not so much.

BTW, credit to the AJC for not censoring these comments too much.

Only place worth the bother there is the Tavern.  But we have places as good as the Tavern here in Chattanooga.  And in Chattanooga, we don't need Tiffany and Cartier and Versace.  If we need that stuff, we just drive to Atlanta.

Nice to drive by, nothing I need inside.

The TJ Maxx around the corner will continue to crush these overpriced stores and their insanely marked up status symbol ghetto fabulous merchandise.

I wonder what kind of anti-theft stuff they have there at the mall to keep the black people from stealing everything. The mall is INFESTED with blacks! I was there on a Wednesday late afternoon, and about 70% of the people were black. I don't know how the place stays in business.

@prarrd Duh they were obviously shopping, but its even more obvious that you weren't. Instead you were obsessing over how many black people were there instead of remembering why they hell you got out of bed , dressed and bothered to even walk out of the house. Another question....why do you even live in Atlanta? There are more white people than you'd ever care to see at the malls in Oregon.

Candidate for worst place to try and park in Atlanta? It has my vote.

They can't get this thing done fast enough! It has been too long as it is. What an eyesore.
