Telecom giant AT&T said it will hire for more than 340 jobs in Georgia, specifically in retail and technology.
The company said it is looking for workers with skills that meets its growing technology and high-speed connectivity demands.
“As we’ve continued to invest in our state and expand our customer base in Georgia, we’ve also remained committed to providing excellent customer service,” William Leahy, president of AT&T Georgia, said in a release.
AT&T, Comcast and Google Fiber are in a race to bring higher Internet speeds to consumers, especially the nascent 1-gigabit service that allows a customer to download a two hour high-definition movie in 20 seconds or less. AT&T is offering 1-gigabit Internet in more than 15 communities, including an expected roll out at the SkyHouse developments across the city.
“From connected cars to a connected home, and from wearable technology to mobile Internet, these are exciting and ambitious times for us – and we are looking for hundreds of employees who can build on that excitement and provide the services our customers expect and deserve,” Leahy said.
